description

Pillow versions before 13.0.0 can mishandle crafted TIFF tags while re-saving images through its libtiff-based TIFF encoder. An attacker who can supply an image to an application that writes it as TIFF may cause process-memory disclosure in the output or crash the processing worker; compressed source images and preserved metadata can reach the affected path.

mitigation

Upgrade Pillow to version 13.0.0 or later. Until upgrades are complete, avoid re-saving untrusted images as TIFF and isolate image-processing workers.

fixed in 13.0.0
