description

Several Barracuda appliance products share a timezone configuration flaw that permits shell metacharacters to reach command processing. An authenticated administrator can cause operating-system commands to execute with root privileges when a crafted timezone value is subsequently processed.

mitigation

Restrict administrative access to trusted administrators and networks, and monitor or limit changes to timezone settings. Obtain and apply vendor remediation when Barracuda provides a fixed release; no fixed version is recorded in the advisory.
