description

Applications using body-parser with its default handling of compressed request bodies are affected. An unauthenticated attacker can cause the application process to terminate by sending a malformed encoded request; parsing occurs before route selection, so no matching endpoint is required.

mitigation

Upgrade body-parser to version 2.4.0 or 1.20.9. If compressed request bodies are not needed, configure the middleware with inflate: false to reject them.

fixed in 2.4.0, 1.20.9
