description

Eclipse OpenJ9 releases before 0.63 contain an out-of-bounds read in the JITServer message parser. An unauthenticated remote party can crash a JITServer process by sending malformed network input when the service is reachable.

mitigation

Upgrade Eclipse OpenJ9 to version 0.63. Restrict network access to JITServer to trusted clients until the upgrade is complete.

fixed in 0.63

outcome

Contextual check: a technique exists and was validated, but no deterministic check could cover this one.
