description

PHPOffice PhpSpreadsheet before 3.10.8 and 5.10.0 can improperly process crafted SpreadsheetML XML containing entity declarations. An attacker who can supply a spreadsheet for processing may cause resource exhaustion and, on PHP versions before 8.0 or when entity substitution is enabled, may access local files or induce server-side requests.

mitigation

Upgrade PhpSpreadsheet to 3.10.8 or 5.10.0. Until upgraded, do not process untrusted SpreadsheetML files and avoid enabling libxml entity substitution.

fixed in 5.10.0, 3.10.8
