description

Open5GS MME releases through 2.8.0 can terminate when processing malformed SGSN address information in a GTPv1-C request. An unauthenticated remote party could disrupt MME service and affect subscribers if it can send traffic from a configured SGSN source and knows a target UE IMSI or P-TMSI.

mitigation

Restrict GTPv1-C ingress to authorized SGSN peers and enforce source-address filtering at network boundaries. Monitor for an Open5GS update that corrects this issue; no fixed version is recorded in the advisory.
