CVE-2026-107227
validatedZero produced an exploit or a check.GHSA-x8v2-478q-2hvg ↗EUVD-2026-94588 ↗
description
AsyncHttpClient can allocate excessive memory while processing compressed WebSocket messages in affected 2.x and 3.x releases. A malicious or compromised WebSocket peer, or an on-path attacker for cleartext WebSocket traffic, can exhaust the JVM heap when WebSocket compression has been enabled.
mitigation
Upgrade to AsyncHttpClient 3.0.14 and configure an appropriate webSocketMaxDecompressedFrameSize for expected message sizes. Migrate from the unsupported 2.x line; until migration, disable WebSocket compression.
fixed in 3.0.14
outcome
Mechanism verified: the exploit fired on the vulnerable build and stayed silent on the patched one, but the server it ran against was ours, so no check ships for it.
