CVE-2026-106445
validatedZero produced an exploit or a check.GHSA-p8wg-vrv2-v86f ↗EUVD-2026-93952 ↗
description
Handlebars versions before 4.7.10 can allow a template to bypass restrictions on dangerous prototype properties. An attacker may execute JavaScript in the server process when they can control a rendered template, allowProtoMethodsByDefault is enabled, and the template context exposes a function.
mitigation
Upgrade the npm handlebars package to version 4.7.10 or later. Do not enable allowProtoMethodsByDefault when rendering untrusted templates or data.
outcome
Mechanism verified: the exploit fired on the vulnerable build and stayed silent on the patched one, but the server it ran against was ours, so no check ships for it.
