description

Payload deployments using locally stored upload collections are affected before the patched releases. An authenticated user allowed to update or delete uploads can cause cleanup to remove files beyond the intended upload directory, potentially causing data loss or service disruption.

mitigation

Upgrade the npm payload package to 3.90.0 or later, or to 4.0.0-canary.34 or later on the canary line. Until upgraded, limit upload update and deletion permissions to trusted users and validate submitted filenames.

fixed in 3.90.0, 4.0.0-canary.34
