description

Ghost versions 4.22.0 through 6.64.x can retain uploaded SVG content without adequate sanitization when it is handled as a thumbnail or given a non-SVG extension. A staff user, including a Contributor, could use this to run browser-side code under the site's origin and potentially compromise other staff sessions.

mitigation

Upgrade Ghost to version 6.65.0 or later. Until upgrades are complete, restrict untrusted staff users from uploading media, especially SVG files and files with misleading extensions.

fixed in 6.65.0
