CVE-2026-104851
validatedZero produced an exploit or a check.GHSA-27vj-qcqg-25rc ↗EUVD-2026-91720 ↗
description
fsspec filesystem_spec versions 0.9.0 through versions before 2026.6.0 process reference JSON using unsafe template evaluation. An attacker who can supply a reference document or control its source URL may execute Python code when a ReferenceFileSystem is opened, including through applications that use it.
mitigation
Upgrade filesystem_spec to version 2026.6.0. Until upgraded, do not open untrusted reference JSON documents and restrict reference-document URLs to trusted sources.
fixed in >= 2026.6.0
outcome
Mechanism verified: the exploit fired on the vulnerable build and stayed silent on the patched one, but the server it ran against was ours, so no check ships for it.
