description

hMailServer 6.0.0 through 6.3.5 can fail to require TLS for outbound SMTP delivery when a recipient's DNSSEC-validated TLSA records lack a usable DANE-EE entry. An attacker able to interfere with the connection to the recipient mail server may cause unencrypted delivery and potentially observe or alter message contents.

mitigation

Upgrade hMailServer to version 6.3.6. Until upgraded, reduce exposure by restricting untrusted network-path access to outbound SMTP traffic.

fixed in 6.3.6
