description

Corvusoft restbed through 5.0.0 does not adequately bound memory use for WebSocket message payloads. An unauthenticated remote attacker able to reach a WebSocket service can exhaust server memory and crash the process.

mitigation

Restrict access to WebSocket endpoints and enforce connection, request-size, and rate limits at a reverse proxy or network edge. Monitor affected services for abnormal memory consumption; no upstream fixed version is recorded.

outcome

Mechanism verified: the exploit fired on the vulnerable build and stayed silent on the patched one, but the server it ran against was ours, so no check ships for it.
