description

NTPsec ntpd versions 1.1.4 through 1.2.5 are affected. A remote party that can send NTS requests may cause the daemon to stop by submitting a request with more cookie-placeholder fields than it handles.

Still under analysis: more detail becomes available as the pipeline runs.

mitigation

Upgrade the ntpsec package to version 1.2.6 or later. Until upgraded, restrict NTS request access to trusted networks where practical.

fixed in 1.2.6
