description

Vert.x DB2 client releases in the affected ranges deserialize certain server-provided data without type restrictions. A malicious or intercepted DRDA server can cause denial of service and may execute code when a usable Java deserialization gadget chain is present; the client must connect to an attacker-controlled or manipulated server response.

mitigation

Configure authenticated TLS for DB2/DRDA connections and restrict those connections to trusted servers and network paths. Monitor Eclipse Vert.x updates and upgrade when a corrected vertx-db2-client release is published.

fixed in 5.2.1, 5.1.10, 4.5.35
