description

OrdaSoft Joomla CCK versions earlier than 8.3.16 expose an upload handler without authentication or access-control checks. An unauthenticated attacker can cause a crafted upload to be saved as an executable server-side file and potentially run code; exploitation requires access to the component's public frontend route.

mitigation

Upgrade OrdaSoft Joomla CCK to version 8.3.16 or later. Until upgraded, disable public access to its upload functionality and prevent PHP execution in Joomla-writable web directories.

outcome

Mechanism verified: the exploit fired on the vulnerable build and stayed silent on the patched one, but the server it ran against was ours, so no check ships for it.
