description
Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved J-Web management interface and NETCONF session handling are affected by an improper-authentication flaw. An unauthenticated network attacker may gain root-level configuration access and take over an affected device when J-Web HTTP or HTTPS is reachable and web management is enabled.
mitigation
Upgrade Junos OS to 25.2R2-S2, 25.4R1-S3, or 26.2R1-S2, and upgrade Junos OS Evolved to 25.2R2-S2-EVO, 25.4R1-S3-EVO, 26.2R1-S2-EVO, 25.2X100-D35-EVO, or 25.4X300-D40-EVO. Until upgraded, disable web management or restrict J-Web HTTP/HTTPS access to trusted administrative networks.
fixed in 25.2R2-S2, 25.4R1-S3, 26.2R1-S2, 25.2R2-S2-EVO, 25.4R1-S3-EVO, 26.2R1-S2-EVO, 25.2X100-D35-EVO, 25.4X300-D40-EVO
outcome
Contextual: an exploit technique exists, but no deterministic check could cover this one.
