description

kin-openapi versions before v0.147.0 can validate a decoded request path as a public OpenAPI operation while an encoded-path-aware downstream gorilla/mux router dispatches it to a protected handler. An unauthenticated requester may bypass the configured authentication callback when the application uses ValidationHandler.Middleware as its security gate and has same-method public and protected routes that overlap after path decoding.

mitigation

Upgrade github.com/getkin/kin-openapi to v0.147.0 or later. Until upgraded, ensure the validation layer and downstream router use identical path-normalization semantics, and avoid preserving encoded path separators between them.

fixed in v0.147.0
