description

Rancher is affected by an authorization flaw when project resource storage is derived from the project name. A user permitted to create a project can create a name matching a project on another cluster and gain access to that other project. Exploitation requires permission to create projects and an existing same-named project in a different cluster.

mitigation

Upgrade Rancher to 2.9.9, 2.10.5, 2.11.1, or a later supported release. Until upgrading, prevent users from creating project names that duplicate names used on other clusters and review duplicate project names for remediation.

fixed in 2.9.9, 2.10.5, 2.11.1
