ETK-2026-715Zero's internal tracking ID, independent of the CVE number.
waiting for further signalsZero needs more public information before it can validate it.description
libheif installations using libsharpyuv can read beyond conversion tables while processing 10- or 12-bit image data whose component values exceed the declared bit depth. An attacker able to supply a malformed image, or an application passing unchecked pixel planes to the encoder, may cause a process crash and could influence converted output with nearby process-memory data. Builds without libsharpyuv support and 8- or 16-bit component inputs are not affected by this path.
mitigation
Upgrade libheif to version 1.23.6 or later. Until it is updated, disable libsharpyuv support or configure conversions to use the average chroma-downsampling algorithm rather than sharp-yuv.
fixed in 1.23.6
outcome
No artifact: an exploit or check was attempted but could not be produced at this moment.
