description

better-auth versions 1.4.0-beta.18 through 1.7.6 can allow account impersonation when Magic Link and social or Generic OAuth sign-in are enabled with database-backed OAuth state and affected token-storage settings. An unauthenticated attacker who knows an email address may obtain a session for that account without access to its mailbox.

mitigation

Upgrade better-auth to 1.7.7 and keep its related adapters, plugins, and integrations on the corresponding release. Until upgraded, use cookie-backed OAuth state or disable Magic Link or social/Generic OAuth sign-in.

fixed in 1.7.7
