description

Pillow releases before 13.0.0 on Windows are affected when they render attacker-controlled WMF or EMF files. A malformed metafile can make the renderer access memory beyond its allocated buffer, potentially exposing process memory or causing a crash.

mitigation

Upgrade Pillow to version 13.0.0 or later on Windows. Until then, block or avoid rendering untrusted WMF and EMF files.

fixed in 13.0.0

outcome

Contextual: an exploit technique exists, but no deterministic check could cover this one.
