description

Malcolm's nginx authorization layer can apply role checks to a differently normalized path than the one nginx routes. An authenticated user may thereby access role-restricted functions, including upload or account-administration interfaces, when role-based access control is enabled.

mitigation

Upgrade Malcolm to v26.09.0 or later. Until upgrading, restrict access to Malcolm's web interface to trusted authenticated users and limit network exposure to administrative and upload endpoints.

fixed in v26.09.0
