description

Apache HTTP Server 2.4.0 through 2.4.68 is affected when mod_session_cookie is in use. A session cookie can be forwarded to a backend after an internal redirect changes SessionCookieRemove; configurations using that redirect behavior are the relevant precondition.

mitigation

Avoid configurations that change SessionCookieRemove during internal redirects. Disable mod_session_cookie where it is not needed, and track Apache HTTP Server updates for a vendor-provided fix.

outcome

Contextual: an exploit technique exists, but no deterministic check could cover this one.
