description

openGauss-server versions beginning with 2.1.0, including the listed 3.x, 5.x, 6.x, and 7.0.0 release candidates, incorrectly process inconsistent length fields in packed HLL data. A database user who can submit SQL that invokes HLL conversion or related functions can trigger server-side heap memory corruption.

mitigation

Upgrade openGauss-server to 7.0.0-LTS, which includes the correction for the HLL unpacking checks. Until upgraded, restrict untrusted database users from executing SQL that processes packed HLL values.
