CVE-2026-106492
waiting for further signalsZero needs more public information before it can validate it.GHSA-cq7v-rfgc-5c7v ↗EUVD-2026-94012 ↗
description
Affected @backstage/backend-defaults deployments may fail to retain restrictions assigned to delegated service credentials. An external service using a restricted credential could perform plugin operations outside its intended permissions, provided it can reach the relevant Backstage backend delegation paths.
mitigation
Upgrade @backstage/backend-defaults to version 0.17.8. Until upgrading, limit backend API access to trusted callers and replace restricted shared credentials with purpose-specific credentials used only by trusted consumers.
fixed in 0.17.8
outcome
Contextual: an exploit technique exists, but no deterministic check could cover this one.
