description

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 systems using libsoup or libsoup3 are affected by a type-confusion flaw in WebSocket Pong signal handling. A remote peer may cause memory corruption or terminate an application when that application has installed a Pong callback that consumes the documented GBytes value.

mitigation

Apply Red Hat updates for libsoup or libsoup3 when a corrected package is released. Until then, restrict WebSocket connections from untrusted peers to applications that register Pong callbacks using the GBytes interface.

outcome

Contextual: an exploit technique exists, but no deterministic check could cover this one.
